Distribution Characteristics of Brominated Dioxins Surrounding Urban Pollution Sources
In order to make clear the distribution characteristics of brominated dioxin compounds(PBDD/Fs)in the vicinity of the pollution sources of urban areas in Shanghai,a research was undertaken in the site nearby a municipal solid-waste incin-erator,where 32 ambient air samples and 61 soil samples were collected during summer and winter, and then the content of PBDD/Fs in soil and ambient air samples was analyzed, and the spatio-temporal distribution around the pollution source was studied. The results showed that the concentrations of PBDD/Fs in the ambient atmosphere around the pollution source ranged from 13.8 to 115 fg/m3,with an average value of 44.3 fg/m3.In winter season,PBDD/Fs concentration was a little more high-er than in summer season. The TEQ concentration of PBDD/Fs in soil samples around a urban pollution source ranged from 0.561 to 15.9 pg/g,with an average value of 3.66 pg/g,and the difference of PBDD/Fs concentrations in different wind direc-tions was statistically meaningless;and the concentration of PBDD/Fs in the ambient atmosphere around the pollution source was much lower than that of chlorinated dioxins, but in the soil,PBDD/Fs concentration was comparable to or even higher than that of chlorinated dioxins. In addition, the analysis of pollution sources indicated that PBDD/Fs pollutants in the ambient atmosphere and soil of the study area were mainly attributed to the use and disposal of commercial decabrominated flame retardants,as well as brominated flame retardants in electronic waste.
