Can Tiantai Wutaishan Ji(Records of Visiting Tiantai Mountain and Wutai Mountain)is one of the travel accounts written by Japanese monks during the Song Dynasty, often mentioned together with Rutang Qiufa Xunli Xingji(Record of a Pilgrimage to Tang China in Search for the Dharma). From 1985 onwards, the study of Records of Visiting Tiantai Mountain and Wutai Moutain in China can be divided into two periods. The period from 1985 to 2003 was an exploratory phase, which focused on introducing foreign research outputs and providing brief e-valuations of the text. From 2004 to the present is a developmental phase, marked by a significant increase in research output and more specific research interests, such as linguistics, religious studies, folklore studies, and foreign relations. However, compared to research on other travel re-cords of monks to China,a systematic study has not yet been established, and many valuable his-torical materials are waiting for further exploration.
