There are various versions of Daoyi Zhilyue extant, among which the Zhisheng Daozhai copy by Peng Yuanrui during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty is complete in con-tent and accurate in writing.Retaining the content of earlier versions,it is particularly valuable and thus a suitable version to be a copy text for collation.Su Jiqing's Daoyi Zhilyue Jiaoshi, the most popular critical edition in the past forty years, was based on the copy transcribed by Wen-jinge edition of Siku Quanshu, but it is not suitable as a copy text. This is because the Siku Quanshu edition fabricated some missing characters of the original copy and missed some of the prefaces and postscripts.Nevertheless,it reflects the original appearance of the copy on which it is based, and the text is relatively accurate,so it is suitable to be the main reference version. In addition, the notes in Toyohachi Fujita's Daoyi Zhilyue Jiaozhu, edited a hundred years ago, still have their value today and are worth noting.
