Legends of exotic lands are a product of cultural exchange and a reflection of ethnic relations. As trade along the Maritime Silk Road flourished, the ancient extraterritorial knowledge sys-tem had been passed down and updated. In this process, similar knowledge and imaginations about the Korean Peninsula emerged in ancient Chinese and Arabic books. The record of Eastern"Junzi Guo"starting from the pre-Qin period gradually formed a connection with Korea(Silla). In Arab oriental literature,Silla also represents the exotic paradise, making such descriptions as the"Land of Gold"into a stable narrative.Exotic legends are the result of collective imagination, which directly reflect and shape social concepts much more than historical records. The two types of extraterritorial knowledge traditions not only reflect the perspectives of maritime trade and tribute trade, but also tell the history of friendly exchanges among peoples along the ancient Maritime Silk Road.
