The photochemical activity variation of different iron oxides induced by oxalic acid:a review
As a further extension of the traditional Fenton processes and non-homogeneous Fenton processes, iron oxides(IOs)and oxalic acid non-homogeneous photochemical systems could stimulate the potential instincts of minerals to take advantage of natural self-purification and ameliorate the growing problem of water pollution. However,in nature, there are many types of IOs and each has its own differences, resulting in different degradation performance of various IOs-oxalic acid photochemical system. On the basis of summarizing the structural properties of IOs,the degradation performance of different IOs-oxalic acid photochemical system was compared, and the differences in the photochemical mechanisms of the systems were further discussed from three aspects(oxalic acid adsorption, iron solubilization, and generation of reactive oxygen species). At the same time, prospects were made for future research, aiming to create an effective and stronger new mode of transportation by regulating the properties of IOs themselves.
