Cause analysis of a continuous O3 pollution process in Hangzhou
Effective control measures can be taken only by identifying the causes of O3 pollution.Aiming at a persistent O3 pollution process in Hangzhou from September 4 to 13,2022,the meteorological conditions, regional background O3 concentration and precursor volatile organic compounds(VOCs)were studied at different stages, such as before the pollution occurred, pollution outbreak period, pollution duration period and pollution elimination period.Based on the positive matrix factorization model and combined with the O3 generation potential and backward trajectory model, the key VOCs causing O3 pollution, the contribution of VOCs emission sources and their main sources were discussed. The results showed that high temperature(maximum daily temperature>28.7 ℃),low humidity(average daily humidity<70%)and static stability(wind speed<3 m/s)were the main external causes of O3 pollution.Ethylene,propylene,1-butene and acetaldehyde were the key VOCs that generated O3 in this pollution process.Among the emission sources with high load of the key VOCs,the contribution of process sources, vehicle emission sources and oil and gas volatile sources were the main internal cause of O3 pollution outbreak, and the contribution of petrochemical emission sources was the main internal cause of O3 pollution persistence.
