Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography/time of flight mass spectrometry non-targeted screening of trace organic pollutants in different samples from shale gas sites and traceability fractionation
Using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography/time of flight mass spectrometry as a technical means,a list of organic pollutants based on actual sample analysis was constructed by non-targeted screening of trace organic pollutants in samples from a shale gas extraction site. The sources of some organic contaminants were identified by analyzing the characteristics of organic pollutants in different samples.Alkanes were the main organic pollutants identified in drilling mud.Compared with the drilling mud,the proportion of alkanes in the deoiled rock cuttings was significantly lower while the proportion of carbonyl and alcohol compounds was higher, showing that the thermal desorption technique had a good removal effect on petroleum hydrocarbons, but might be ineffective in removing the more polar carbonyl and alcohol compounds.Alkanes and carbonyl compounds were the main contaminants in fracking and flowback fluids.A large number of chemicals used as antimicrobials, plasticizers, surfactants, initiators, could be identified in fracking fluids and flowback water.
