Preparation of an activated carbon rich in surface hydroxyl and its application in the electrocatalytic oxidation of landfill leachate
To investigate the effect of surface hydroxyl on the electrocatalytic oxidation performance of iron-carbon three-dimensional particle electrodes, oxidation modification conditions for commercial activated carbon was set as:in 5 g activated carbon,KMnO4 addtion of 15 g,20 mL H2SO4 mass percentage of 10%,reaction temperature of 35 ℃ and reaction time of 1 h.Characterization analysis showed that the surface hydroxyl content of modified activated carbon increased greatly.Then,iron-carbon three-dimensional particle electrodes with modified or unmodified activated carbon were prepared, and applied in electrocatalytic oxidation of landfill leachate. Results showed that at reaction temperature of 50 ℃,electrolysis voltage of 8 V,O3 volume velocity of 0.2 L/min,and electromagnetic stirring speed of 600 r/min when 3 g electrode was added in 100 mL landfill leachate, the electrode prepared with modified activated carbon improve the TOC and ammonia nitrogen degradation rates by 26 and 20 perentage points, respectively, after 30 minutes reaction.
