Research progress of iron based and carbon based materials in promoting anaerobic digestion of organic solid waste
The anaerobic digestion of organic solid waste is of great significance in achieving waste resource utilization. In recent years, improving the efficiency of anaerobic digestion by using different types of additives has become a research hotspot, among which iron based and carbon based materials are widely used due to their good conductivity. The research progress of iron based and carbon based materials in promoting anaerobic digestion of organic solid waste was summarized, and the mechanism of the two materials in anaerobic digestion was summarized. It was found that iron based materials mainly created survival conditions for microorganisms by reducing oxidation-reduction potential, enhancing direct interspecific electron transfer(DIET),promoting hydrolysis and acidification processes by stimulating key enzymes. In addition to enhancing DIET,carbon based materials also played a role by adsorbing inhibitory compounds, enriching functional microorganisms, and supporting microbial colonization.Meanwhile, iron based materials and carbon based materials could synergistically promote anaerobic digestion. Finally, the existing problems of the two materials in promoting anaerobic digestion of organic solid waste were analyzed, and their development prospects were prospected.
