Study on the calculation and uncertainty of environmental footprint analysis for remediation of a polluted site in Hefei
This study took the remediation practice of a typical polluted site in Hefei,Anhui Province,as a case. The Environmental Footprint Analysis Spreadsheet(SEFA)was employed to account for the environmental footprint throughout the remediation process.Monte Carlo simulation was used to analyze the uncertainty of the accounting results. The findings revealed that the energy consumption of the remediation project was 63.75 million MJ,with a 95%confidence interval of 50.396 2 million to 76.943 6 million MJ,and a coefficient of variation of 4.95%.The total greenhouse gas(GHG)emission was 4 497.5 tons(expressed as CO2 equivalent),with a 95%confidence interval ranging from 3 572.12 to 5 335.16 tons and a coefficient of variation of 4.40%vindicating high accuracy of the analysis. The uncertainty analysis showed that detailed recording of parameters such as material usage, equipment operation time, and transportation distance was essential for ensuring the accuracy of the results. To advance green and low-carbon development in soil pollution risk control and remediation,it was proposed that energy consumption and carbon emissions should be integrated into the assessment indicators for soil remediation.Furthermore, constructing a carbon footprint database and developing environmental footprint assessment software tailored to China's national conditions were recommended.
