Eco-health assessment of rivers in Yanqing District of Beijing City based on benthic-index of biotic integrity(B-IBI)
Yanqing District is located in the northwest ecological conservation area of Beijing City.Three surveys were conducted on benthos at 11 typical sampling sites from June to October 2022,and 28 candidate indicators reflecting species richness, species composition and biological pollution tolerance were selected based on the characteristics of rivers in Yanqing District of Beijing City.Four core indicators including total taxa,Shannon-Wiener diversity index, percentage model affinity and family biotic index were screened out to construct a benthic-index of biotic integrity(B-IBI)system in the study area.Ratio scoring method was used to calculate uniform B-IBI scores and 95%percentile of all sampling sites B-IBI scores was considered as a criteria to evaluate the river ecosystem health. The river eco-health was divided into five levels including excellent, good, fair, poor and extremely poor. The results indicated that:(1)the eco-health of rivers in the study area was generally good and showed an obvious spatial differentiation, while 72.7%sites were in the grade of good or excellent. The Chaobai River basin was better than the Yongding River basin, and the upstream of the Yongding River basin was better than the downstream.(2)The eco-health of rivers in the study area was still fragile, and the B-IBI was susceptible to multiple environmental factors stress. The evaluation system could be used as an effective method for monitoring the eco-health,guide the sustainable scientific management of rivers in the study area, and also provide reference for eco-health assessment of other regional rivers.
