High surface area and microporous activated carbon(SCAC) was prepared from the alien invasive plant Solidago canadensis, which was carbonized at 400℃ for 90 minutes under a nitrogen atmosphere, and then the carbonized product was activated by microwave radiation with agent KOH.The results showed that the surface area of SCAC was 1 888 m2/g,with total pore volume and micropore volume of 0.804 cm3/g and 0.741 cm3/g,respectively,average of pore size and micropore size were 0.567 nm and 0.488 nm.The adsorption effect of Cd(Ⅱ)with SCAC was conducted by the static adsorption experiments.Factors such as SCAC's dosage, initial concentration, initial pH and adsorption time were considered. And the adsorption mechanism was discussed through the fitting of the kinetic equation. It was concluded that the adsorption time, optimum pH and dosage of SCAC were 120 minutes,pH 7.5 and 0.05 g/50 mL,respectively. The adsorption kinetic was fitted with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model.
