Growth characteristics of Lemna minor L.under different nitrogen concentrations and space conditions
As an advantage variety of duckweeds in the western region,L.minor was used to study its growth characteristics under different initial total nitrogen (TN) concentrations and space conditions. Results showed that when cultured with 95 cm2 surface area and 0,1,2 and 3 mg/L of initial TN concentrations, the growth of L.minor could be well illustrated with the classic growth model. The relative growth rates (RGR) increased with the TN concentrations increasing, reaching to 0.10,0.11,0.13 and 0.13 d-1,respectively.In contrast, the growth of L.minor could be well illustrated with the Logistic growth model, when cultured with 10 mg/L TN and 95,130 and 230 cm2 surface areas. The environmental carrying capacities were 1 899,2 101 and 1 962 g/m2,respectively,where the RGR in logarithmic growth phase were 0.21,0.21 and 0.20 d-1.
