Effect of four kinds of phytohormones on U and Cd accumulation in Helianthus annuus
Soil pollution from uranium tailings was simulated in the laboratory, and a pot experiment was performed to study the effects of phytohormones (3-indolyl acetic acid,IAA;gibberellic acid 3,GA3;6-benzylaminopurine,6-BA;epibrassinolide,EBL) on U and Cd extraction, transportation, and accumulation in Helianthus annuus. The result showed that phytohormones had a positive effect on U and Cd uptake in H.annuus.An addition of 100 mg · L-1 3-IAA increased the U content ofH.annuus by 162% up to 14.74 mg · kg-1 DW,and applying 500 mg · L-1 GA3 increased the Cd content ofH.annuus by 17% up to 34.20 mg · kg-1 DW compared with the control, respectively. However, phytohormones inhibited transporting U from roots to shoots, and the translocation factor was reduced from 15.4% to 97.4%.Phytohormones also had a positive effect on U and Cd accumulation in H.annuus.Applying 250 mg · L-1 GA3 and 50 mg · L-1 6-BA increased U bioaccumulation by 179% and Cd bioaccumulation by 81%,reaching to 206.43 μg U and 453.17 μg Cd per plant, respectively. These resultsed suggested that phytohormones could improve the effectiveness of phytoremediation with H.annuus in soil contaminated with U and Cd.
