Impact Analysis of urban scale factors on the construction level of"Zero-Waste City"
As urban scales continue to expand, the urgency to discern the pressures on urban solid waste management intensifies. This paper adopted the perspective of"Zero-Waste City"construction, employing the entropy-weighted TOPSIS method to evaluate the construction levels of"Zero-Waste City".Using dynamic panel data from the prefecture-level cities of Fujian Province from 2001 to 2019,it empirically analyzed the impact and heterogeneity of urban scale on"Zero-Waste City"construction through threshold models and the System GMM model. The findings indicated that the construction level of"Zero-Waste City"in Fujian Province had generally improved steadily, albeit with significant regional disparities.Prosperity and technological levels facilitated the construction of a"Zero-Waste City"while a higher proportion of secondary industry markedly impeded it.The impact of urban scale on"Zero-Waste City"construction was nonlinear, exhibiting an"inverted N"curve relationship with three significant interval effects. It suggested that an optimal urban scale was achieved with a permanent population of approximately 4.339 1 million. Therefore,to enhance the construction level of"Zero-Waste City",it was crucial to align with the local development stage, clarify key influencing factors, and discern the levels of urban scale.
