Research on the potential of agricultural organic waste anaerobic digestion and carbon emission reduction accounting in Hebei
Against the backdrop of the national continuous promotion of the dual carbon goals and rural revitalization,a comprehensive evaluation model for the low-carbon and efficient utilization of organic waste in Hebei Province was constructed.Quantitative assessments were conducted in areas such as biogas potential calculation, carbon emissions from collection and transportation, and suitability of biogas project construction in the future. The results indicated that in 2021,there was a huge theoretical biogas production potential from agricultural organic waste in Hebei Province, estimated at approximately 2.64×10 10 m3,equivalent to 18.87 million tons of standard coal or 15.537 billion cubic meters of natural gas. However, the distribution trend was uneven, with significant differences among cities.Handan,Baoding, and Shijiazhuang were in the first tier, while Qinhuangdao,Langfang, and Chengde had lower biogas potential. The substitution of theoretical biogas production for natural Standard coal usage could reduce CO2 emissions by 4.10×10 7 tons.Additionally, the biogas slurry and residue generated could replace 4.318 million tons of chemical fertilizers for agricultural use.The analysis of economic indicators and agricultural development indicators revealed that Hengshui,Shijiazhuang, and Handan had the best comprehensive suitability for the long-term construction of agricultural organic waste biogas projects. This study will provide references for the disposal and utilization of agricultural organic waste, optimization of rural energy structure, transformation of agricultural green and low-carbon development, and carbon emission accounting in rural areas of Hebei Province.
