Microbial Community Structure and Function in Municipal Solid Waste Landfill
After buried, municipal solid vaste (MSW) undergoes a series of reaction phases (aerobic phase, anaerobic acid phase, initial methanogenic phase, and stable methanogenic phase) and consequendy reaches to stable phase. At the same time, the organic matter is converted into methane by microbial community.Traditional microbiology technique and the emerging metagenomics techniques have been used to investigate the variation of microbial community structure and function during refuse decomposition in landfill. We reviewed the related studies and found that the heterogeneity of refuse and local en vironment are the main factors in shaping microbial community structure and function.Based on these findings, the obstacle and further study were discussed.
