Objective To understand Impact of alcohol consumption on body composition and blood pressure of male health check-up participants in Qinghai province. Methods A total of 1 199 men working in Qinghai, underwent health check-up at the Cardio-cerebro-vascular Disease Specialist Hospital of Qinghai Province in 2020 were chosen, including 183 regular alcohol consumers(RAC),557 occasional alcohol consumers(OAC),and 459 non-drinkers/abstainers(ND).The height, weight and blood pressure were measured, and the body composition indices such as total fat, visceral fat, water, muscle, skeletal muscle and protein were measured by using a body composition analyzer. Results The proportions of hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia were significantly higher in the RAC group compared with OAC group and ND group(P<0.05).The snoring rate in the RAC group and the OAC group was significantly higher than that in the ND group(P<0.05).The systolic and diastolic blood pressures in the RAC group were significantly higher than those in the OAC group and the ND group(P<0.05).The body mass index(BMI)and waist circumference in the ND group were significantly lower than those in the OAC group and the RAC group(P<0.05).The total fat, protein, water, skeletal muscle, and bone mineral density in the RAC group were significantly higher than those in the ND group(P<0.05).The visceral fat, body fat rate, and muscle in the ND group were significantly lower than those in the OAC group and the RAC group(P<0.05).Conclusion Alcohol consumption has obvious adverse effects on body composition and blood pressure based on the physical examination data of some people in Qinghai province.
