Monitoring and analysis of water quality of rural drinking water safety projects in Jiangxi province during 2017-2021
Objective To understand the water quality status and the related influencing factors of rural drinking water safety projects in Jiangxi province. Methods A certain number of rural drinking water safety project water plants were randomly chosen as the monitoring points in all rural population towns in the province, and the finished water and tap water of each monitoring point were collected during the wet season(April-June)and dry season(August-October)from 2017 to 2021,and the conventional indicators and ammonia nitrogen were tested according to Standard examination methods for drinking water. Results From 2017 to 2021,a total of 26 608 water samples were tested, and the overall pass rate was 59.77%,showing an upward trend year by year(P<0.01),from 36.31%of 2017 up to 86.80%of 2021.The qualified rates of disinfectant allowance, total coliforms,heat-resistant coliforms or Escherichia coli, total numbers of colony and turbidity were 24.13%,72.11%,79.76%,86.84%and 89.17%,which were the main influencing items for water quality. There were significant differences in the overall qualified rate of water as different season, disinfection methods and water sampling points. Conclusion The water quality qualification rate of rural drinking water safety projects in Jiangxi province is increasing year by year.Total coliforms, total bacterial count, turbidity and disinfectant allowance are still the main influencing factors for the water quality.
