Laser radiation measurement and quality control in workplaces
Objective Tomaster a good method of test and quality control for laser radiation measurement in workplace. Methods A medical equipmentfactory was chosen as the investigated workplace.According to GBZ/T 189.4-2007 Measurement of Physical Agents in Workplace Part 4:Laser Radiation,GBZ 2.2-2007 Occupational exposure limits for hazardous agents in the workplace:Physical agents, the packaging and warehousing position that involved industrial laser marking machines was chosen in 2023.Laser radiation measurements and quality control of laser preheating, laser beam focusing adjustment, and laser marking supervision process were conducted by using a laser power meter and a low-power thermocouple probe. Results The calculations yielded average radiation values of 1.31 mW/cm2,1.39 mW/cm2,and 1.67 mW/cm2 for the three processes, respectively. The results all met the exposure limit requirements(<0.1W/cm2).According to JJF 1059.1-2012 Evaluation and Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement, the combined uncertainties for the three processes were 16.5%,15.6%,and 12.2%,while the expanded uncertainties(k=2)were 33.0%,31.2%,and 24.2%.The uncertainty components u1 attributed to the repeatability of the measurement operations were 16.2%,15.3%,and 11.8%,respectively,which were the main sources of uncertainty. Conclusion It was necessary to provide quantitative expression of the quality of laser radiation measurements to evaluate their reliability, thereby taking further quality control measures. This study presents a specific quality control measures for laser radiation measurement in the workplace and the recommendations for engineering protection and personal protection related to laser radiation operations.
