Pollution and health risk of artificial synthetic musks in dust from metro stations in Wuhan city,Hubei province
Objective To know the pollution status of artificial synthetic musks in the dust from Wuhan metro stations and the health risks for the exposed people.Methods The dust samples were collected quarterly from 18 metro stations of three metro lines(Line 2,Line 3 and Line 7)in Wuhan,and the content of 8 artificial synthetic musks was determined.The experimental data was analyzed and evaluated by using the US Environmental Protection Agency inhalation risk assessment model.Results The total concentration range of artificial synthetic musks in the dust of Wuhan metro stations was 30.9-444.7 ng/g,and the detected musks were Jiale musk,Tuna musk,xylene musk and ketone musk.There was no statistically significant difference in the content of artificial synthetic musk in the dust of metro stations on different subway lines,but there were seasonal differences in the content of Jiale musk and ketone musk in the dust of metro stations.Conclusion Occurrence of artificial synthetic musks in the dust of Wuhan metro stations has been proved,but the hazardous index values of artificial synthetic musks were far lower than 1,suggesting limited human health risk via only dust exposure.
