Effect of fine-tuned balance No.3 formula in patients undergoing intensity modulated radiotherapy for esophageal cancer
Objective To explore the effect of fine-tuned balance No.3 formula on esophageal cancer patients undergoing intensity modulated radiotherapy. Methods A total of 78 patients with esophageal cancer who were admitted to the Jiangyin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2019 to March 2022 were enrolled in this study. They were divided into the study group and control group according to random number table, with 39 patients in each group. The patients in both groups received intensity modulated radiotherapy. Then the control group was given routine enteral nutrition support, and the study group also received fine-tuned balance No.3 formula in addition to routine enteral nutrition support. The treatment continued for 3 months. The clinical efficacy, immune function, quality of life scale(QLQ-C30)score and adverse effects were compared between the two groups. Results The disease control rate in the study group was higher than that in the control group(89.74%vs 71.79%,P<0.05).CD3+,CD8+and QLQ-C30 score were increased after treatment in both groups(all P<0.05),and these indexes in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group(all P<0.05).CD4+and CD4+/CD8+were decreased after treatment in both groups(all P<0.05),and these indexes in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidences of radiation esophagitis(grade Ⅰ-Ⅳ),gastrointestinal reaction or bone marrow suppression between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Fine-tuned balance No.3 formula is safe and effective for the treatment of esophageal cancer patients undergoing intensity modulated radiotherapy. It can improve immune function and quality of life of patients.
