Influencing factors of quality of life of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and respiratory failure
Objective To investigate the quality of life and its influencing factors in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)and respiratory failure(RF).Methods A total of 100 elderly COPD patients with RF who were admitted to The Affiliated Huaian No.1 People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from March 2021 to February 2023 were selected as research objects by convenience sampling method. The quality of life of the patients was assessed by the survey questionnaire of general information and quality of life instruments for chronic diseases COPD(QLICD-COPD).The influencing factor the quality of life was investigated by logistic regression analysis. Results Eventually,98 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective response rate of 98%.The mean QLICD-COPD score was 45.06±6.76.There were significant differences in QLICD-COPD scores among patients with different ages, educational levels, family income, percentage of first second forced expiratory volume to expected value(FEV1%)grading,medical expense payment pattern, residence, body mass index(BMI),and employment status(P<0.05).Age≥75 years, low education level, middle and low family income,FEV1%grade 4,living alone, and BMI<18.5 and>24.0 were influencing factors for the quality of life of elderly COPD patients with RF(P<0.05).Conclusion The quality of life of elderly COPD patients with RF is affected by age, educational level, family income,FEV1%,residence and BMI.Attention should be paid to the patients with the risk factors.
