Research on Image Measurement Method of Bolt Pitch Quantity in Aircraft Wire Harness Assembly
The aircraft wiring harness is the assembly unit of the Electrical Wiring Interconnection Sys-tems(EWIS).The important harnesses are often secured by P-type metal cushion clamps in bundles.One of the quality inspection requirements for assembly of clamped wire harnesses is that after tightening the clamp bolt and nut,the bolt should expose the nut by more than specified pitches.To achieve intelli-gent inspection of aircraft wiring harness assembly,a method was proposed for automatically identifying the number of pitches of the bolt protruding the nut in a P-type clamp based on image recognition.First-ly,the midpoints of the unilateral crests of the bolt extending the nut were built up as the image crest fea-ture points,and the formula for calculating the number of pitches using the crest feature points was estab-lished.Secondly,the number of crest feature points was obtained through image preprocessing,edge detec-tion,contour extraction and fitting,and extremum point detection.Finally,the two concrete image exam-ples were experimentally verified.
