Preliminary Study on Capacity Assessment Method of Airport Terminal Area in Fine Weather
In light of the rapid growth in air transportation demand and increasing operational pressure in China, the utilization of suitable capacity assessment models holds great importance for the research of theoretical capacity and planning of busy airports. This study builds capacity models for departure and ar-rival segments as well as intersections, based on the Max-flow min-cut theorem, and verifies them through simulations at Xi'an Xianyang Airport. The research findings demonstrate that the predicted ca-pacity of the model closely aligns with 105%~110%of the actual maximum hourly flow, indicating its high accuracy. This shows that the model has excellent accuracy in terminal area capacity assessment,es-pecially in clear weather conditions. This research provides airport managers with a powerful decision-making tool to help them more effectively meet the growing demand for air traffic and ensure efficient and safe airport operations.
