The mediating effect of social support on the relationship between disease acceptance and quality of life in stroke patients
Objective To explore the mediating role of social support on the relationship between disease acceptance and quality of life in stroke patients.Methods A convenient sampling method was used to take 375 stroke patients hospitalized in the department of neurology of a tertiary hospital in Tangshan as the research subjects,and the general information questionnaire,Acceptance of Illness Scale,Social Sup-port Rating Scale and the Stroke-Specific Quality of Life Scale were used to conduct survey.Results The score of disease acceptance of stroke patients was(21.70±5.50),score of social support was(37.13±8.49),and score of quality of life was(106.83±41.51).Disease ac-ceptance and social support were positively correlated with quality of life(P<0.01).Social support had a mediating effect between disease ac-ceptance and quality of life,with the mediating effect accounting for 23.7%of the total utility.Conclusion The disease acceptance,social support and quality of life of stroke patients are at a moderate level,and social support plays a partial mediating effect between the two,sug-gesting that medical staff should start with patients'social support resources and improve the utilization rate of patients'social support,so as to promote patients'acceptance of the disease and improve their quality of life.
