The influence of clinical nurses'perception of medication environment on medication safety competence
Objective To investigate the current status of clinical nurses'medication safety competence and to analyze the impact of the perceived medication environment on their medication safety competence,in order to provide reference for improving their medication safe-ty competence.Methods The convenience sampling method was used to select 484 clinical nurses from a tertiary grade A hospital in Hu'nan Province as the research objects.The general information questionnaire,clinical nurses'Medication Safety Competency Scale and Medication Environment Perception Scale were applied to survey these nurses.Results The total score of nurses'medication safety competence was(165.46±23.13)(91.92%).The total score of medication environment perception was(143.80±20.37)(89.88%).There was a positive cor-relation between medication safety competence and each dimension of medication environment perception(P<0.01).Linear hierarchical re-gression analysis showed that nurses'medication safety competence increased by 38.0%after perception of the medication environment under controlling for demographic information.Conclusion The physical work environment and the nurses themselves in the perception of the medi-cation environment are influential and positively predictive of medication safety competence.Therefore,improving the medication environment of clinical nurses can improve their level of medication safety competence.
