Current status and influencing factors of empathy fatigue in hospice care nurses
Objective To explore the current status and influencing factors of empathy fatigue in hospice nurses and to inform the de-velopment of intervention strategies.Methods A total of 512 hospice nurses in Jiangsu Province were investigated by the General Informa-tion Questionnaire,Chinese version of the Empathy Fatigue Scale,Death Coping Skills Scale,and Grandey Emotional Labor Scale.Results The score of hospice nurses'empathyn fatigue was(65.85±14.55),the score of death coping was(153.37±32.32),and the score of emotional labor was(53.31±13.16).The empathy fatigue of hospice nurses had positive correlation with death coping ability and emotional labor(all P＜0.05),and they were the influencing factors of empathy fatigue(P＜0.05).Conclusion Empathy fatigue is an easily overlooked occupational stress problem,and managers should pay attention to the emotional labor process of hospice nurses,strengthen emotional labor education,and help them correctly cope with emotional distress in death work.
