Correlation between nurses' self-awareness and patient safety competence in cancer hospitals
Objective To explore the correlation between nurses'self-awareness and patient safety competence in cancer hospitals.Methods A total of 2 058 nurses from 10 Grade A oncology hospitals in China were investigated using the general information question-naire,nurse self-awareness scale,and nurse competence scale in patient safety.Results The total score of nurses'self-awareness was(46.17±10.78),and the total score for their competence in patient safety was(129.92±14.80),between which had significant positive corre-lation(P＜0.01).Conclusion The level of self-awareness of nurses in specialized oncology hospitals need to be improved,and self-aware-ness has a positive promoting effect on patient safety competency.Nursing managers should pay attention to nurses'self-awareness and im-prove the level of their self-awareness and competence in patient safety through scientific methods.
