The study on the status quo and influencing factors of professional identity for psychiatric nurses
Objective To investigate the status quo of professional identity and analysis the influence of job stressor and nursing work environment on psychiatric nurses'professional identity.Methods A total of 569 psychiatric nurses from 9 hospitals in Shaanxi Province were investigated with general data questionnaire,Occupational Identity Scale(OIS),Chinese nurses job stressors scale(CNJSS)and Practice En-vironment Scale(PES).Results The score of professional identity was(32.46±9.33),the score of job stressor was(81.00±8.51),and the score of nursing work environment was(88.23±15.27).The scores of job stressors and its dimensions were negatively correlated with profes-sional identity(P<0.001).The scores of nursing work environment and its dimensions were positively correlated with professional identity(P<0.001).Moreover,the results of multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that age,monthly income level,workload and time alloca-tion,work environment and resources,nurse participation in hospital affairs and high quality nursing service accounted for 47.8%of the vari-ance of clinical psychiatric nurses'professional identity.Conclusion The enhancement of psychiatric nurses'professional identity requires further attention and development.Nurse managers should formulate corresponding interventions in reducing pressure of psychiatric nurses and creating good nursing work environment to improve the professional identity level.
