Meta analysis of the influencing factors of symptom control in school-age children with asthma
Objective To systematically evaluate the influencing factors of symptom control in school-age children. Methods Cross-sectional studies and cohort studies on school-age asthma control were searched in the databases Cochrane Library,CINAHL,PubMed,WOS,Embase,Medline,China Biology Medicine disc,CNKI,Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, and VIP Chinese Citation Database, and the literature search period was from inception to March 15,2024.Results A total of 9 studies were included, with a total sample size of 5 016 cases. The results of Meta-analysis showed that there were 7 statistically significant influencing factors in school-age children with asth-ma,among which high level of exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO)[OR=1.02,95%CI(1.01,1.03),P<0.001],family history of asthma[OR=1.46,95%CI(1.17,1.83),P=0.002],tobacco exposure[OR=3.06,95%CI(1.48,6.31),P=0.002],low parental education level[OR=2.90,95%CI(1.61,5.25),P<0.001]were risk factors for symptom control in school-age children with asthma. While older age[OR=0.91,95%CI(0.83,0.99),P=0.041],lectures on asthma[OR=3.07,95%CI(1.43,6.60),P=0.004],adherence to medication[OR=0.81,95%CI(0.77,0.85),P<0.001],live with parents[OR=0.94,95%CI(0.89,0.98),P=0.010]were protective factor for symptom control in school-age children with asthma. Conclusion The level of exhaled nitric oxide, family history of asthma, tobacco exposure, parental education level,age,asthma-related lectures, and adherence to medication are the influencing factors of asthma control at school age.Targeted measures should be taken to improve the level of asthma control at school age in the future.
