The development and reliability and validity testing of a questionnaire on nurses'perception of interpersonal exchange commu-nication between medical staff and nurses
Objective To develop a questionnaire measuring nurses'perceptions of interpersonal exchange between nurses and physi-cians,and to test its reliability and validity.Methods Based on Baggs Nurse-Physician Collaboration Theory,item pool was formed through literature review.Then 16 experts participated consultation twice to form a pre-test questionnaire.A total of 245 nurses were recruited and in-vestigated,the item analysis and reliability and validity test were conducted to form final questionnaire.Results The final questionnaire con-tained 4 dimensions,namely willingness to collaborate,respect,trust and effective communication,with 18 items in total.The total Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.970.The scale-level content validity index was 0.976 and the item-level CVI was between 0.857 and 1.000.The confirma-tory factor analysis indicated that the questionnaire had a good construct validity.Conclusion The nurses'perceptions of nurse-physician in-terpersonal exchange questionnaire has good reliability and validity,which has certain application value to evaluate the level of nurse physician interpersonal exchange from the view of nurses.The study applies the social exchange theory to the field of nurse-physician relationship,which enrich the application of social exchange theory and verify the structural conception of interpersonal exchange between physicians and nurses in Baggs Nurse-physician Collaboration Theory from an empirical point of view,which also has certain theoretical significance.
