Effects of Allicin on Rumen Fermentation Indexes and Methane Production of Sheep
In order to explore the effect of different concentrations of allicin on the rumen fermentation index and methane production of sheep, six sheep with good body condition and similar body weight(28±1.0 kg)with permanent rumen fistula were selected for the experiment, the basal diet was taken as the substrate, adding allicin 100,300 and 500 mg respectively, and the best addition amount was screened. The test results showed that the addition of different concentrations of allicin to the feed had no significant effect on the pH value of fermentation in vitro(P>0.05);the addition of allicin 100,300 and 500 mg significantly increased the BCP(P<0.05),ammonia state in the in vitro culture medium Nitrogen(P<0.05)and propionic acid(P<0.05)concentrations,significantly reduced acetic acid concentration(P<0.05)and acetic acid/propionic acid(P<0.05);and significantly inhibited methane production(P<0.05).Adding 300 mg allicin had the greatest effect on the above indicators.
