Study on Pavement Performance and Anti-loose Property of Steel Slag Porous Ultra-thin Wear Layer Mixture
In order to study the pavement performance and durability of porous ultra-thin wear layer mixture of steel slag, the coarse basalt aggregate above 2.36 mm was replaced by steel slag, and the porous ultra-thin wear layer mixture was prepared with three po-rosity ratios of 18%,21% and 24%.The pavement performance, such as high temperature stability, low temperature cracking resist-ance,water stability and permeability,of porous ultra-thin wear layer of steel slag was studied by using high temperature rutting, low temperature trabecular bending,freeze-thaw splitting strength and water permeability meter, and Kentabau flying test under different environmental conditions was carried out.To evaluate the looseness resistance of porous ultra-thin wear layer mixture under standard, high temperature and freeze-thaw conditions. The results show that adding steel slag enhances the embedding and extrusion effect be-tween the aggregate inside the mixture, the physical and chemical adsorption between steel slag and asphalt, the stability at high tem-perature,crack resistance at low temperature, water stability and drainage performance of basalt mixture are increased 140%,4.1%,7.1% and 1.6%,respectively.Withtheincrease of voidage ratio, the related road performance of steel slag porous ultra-thin wear layer mixture decreases except for drainage. The results of Kentabau flying test show that the addition of steel slag increases the amount of asphalt and enhances the intercalation of aggregate,so as to obtain better anti-loose property. However, when the voidage ratio in-creases from 18% to 24%,the standard flying loss of steel slag mixture increases by41.8%,and the mass loss measured under stand-ard conditions is less than that measured under high temperature or freeze-thaw conditions. The evaluation effect of water damage un-der high temperature condition is better than that under freeze-thaw cycle condition.
