Mix Ratio Design and Construction Organization of Asphalt Mixture for the Lower Surface Layer of Nigerian Highways
In order to explore the mix ratio design of asphalt mixture and construction organization of asphalt pavement lower surface layer suitable for Nigeria, the performance indicators of raw materials were tested based on the Malaba-Keffi road repair project in Ni-geria.The target mix ratio design and production mix ratio design of asphalt mixture for the lower surface layer were conducted. The vol-ume indexes and road performance of the two mix ratio design asphalt mixtures were measured, and the construction organization plan was proposed. The applicability was verified by inspecting the asphalt-aggregate ratio and gradation of the test section of the lower sur-face layer asphalt mixture. The results show that the optimal asphalt-aggregate ratio for the lower surface layer asphalt mixture is 4.7%.The asphalt mixture prepared according to the target mix ratio design and production mix ratio design meets the specifications of Nigeria. The asphalt-aggregate ratio of the test section is consistent with the optimal asphalt-aggregate ratio, and the screening curve is basically consistent with the gradation curve.
