Rhizobium sp.is a common microorganism in soil, and it can establish a symbiotic relationship with legumes to form root nodules. The establishment of symbiotic relationships requires complex molecular exchange processes, and the type Ⅲ secretion system of rhizobia plays an important role in nodulation and immune response between rhizobia and legumes. The composition and genetic characteristics of the type Ⅲ secretory system of rhizobia, the synthetic pathway, types and functions of effector proteins,as well as their effects on nodulation were reviewed, providing references for further understanding of nodulation mechanism between rhizobia and host plants.
