In recent years, human activities have become the main factor affecting the change of river erosion and deposition, which makes the Tarim River main stream show a new pattern of erosion and deposition evolution.Based on the data of water and sediment quantity in Alar Station of Tarim River for many years, with the river regime change map,the study analyzes the variation of the characteristics of Alar reach, section changes,co-discharge level and water-level discharge relationship from 1958 to 2017,summarizes the evolution characteristics of Alar Reach of Tarim River, and analyzes the driving factors affecting the evolution of Alar Reach of Tarim River.① Water-sediment relationship. The amount of water in Aral from 1960 to 2017 showed a decreasing trend, with a decrease value of 961 million m3.The inter-annual variation range of water and sediment was large, and the distribution of water and sediment was uneven within the year. The amount of sediment was concentrated from 1960 to 1999,and was stable in other periods.② River channel characteristics. There was a wandering river near Aral, with wide and shallow riverbed. Many central beaches and sandbanks, and the riverbed was uncertain.③Alar cross section was generally characterized by large water erosion, small water deposition, and little change of erosion and deposition in a long period of time.④The overall erosion and deposition of this section did not change much from 2005 to 2009.The section was scoured from 2009 to 2010.The section was generally silted from 2010 to 2017.Combined with the Aral section, the beach lip elevation of the main trough of this section was 10.Im in 2005,and the flat beach discharge was 1600 m3/s.In 2010,the main trough beach elevation of this section was 9.93 in,and the flat beach discharge increased to about 1750 m3/s.
