In order to study the adaptability of steel-concrete composite girders in bridge reconstruction projects, the study proposes three reconstruction schemes based on a reconstruction project of an old and unsafe bridge on a trunk road, combines with the disease situation of the bridge, and proposes 3 modification scheme.Scheme One involves replacing the main beams with steel-concrete composite girders,Scheme Two involves replacing the main beams with similar type of prestressed simply supported box girders, and Scheme Three involved externally prestressing the original beams combined with locally increasing the section for reinforcement.Through comparing factors, such as adaptability, construction requirements and economy,it is recommended to replace the main beams with steel-concrete composite girders.Structural calculation and analysis are conducted. The calculation results show that the bearing limit state and normal use state of the reconstructed bridge meet the requirements, the purpose of bridge reconstruction is achieved, and reference for similar bridge reconstruction is provided.
