In recent years, the intensity and distribution characteristics of short-duration heavy precipitation in Guangzhou have changed significantly under the influence of extreme climate change. The old drainage facilities cannot meet the needs of urban flood control and drainage, resulting in increasingly prominent problems of water points and water accumulation. This seriously affects the efficiency and safety of residents'travel, and greatly hinders the high-quality development of urban governance.Through taking the water points in a town in Panyu District,Guangzhou City as an example, the study comprehensively analyzes the water system, topographic direction, rainfall intensity, catchment volume, water points and drainage facilities around the block. It is suggested to add gutter inlets at upstream and downstream, build new pipes of gutter inlets, and transform pumping stations, etc.on the premise of avoiding greatly changing the topography and landform and the existing drainage system,so as to explore the water-controlling scheme with strong implementation according to local condition. This provide reference for the water governance of Guangzhou.
