Application Analysis of FY-4A Data in Extreme Hail Weather in Ning'an on July 1,2023
Under the background of a cold vortex, strong convection weather such as hail with a maximum diame-ter of about 9 cm and a force 10 gale occurred in Ning'an,Mudanjiang,on July 1,2023.Using MICAPS data, radar data and FY-4A data, four types of FY-4A satellite cloud type CLT,cloud phase state CLP,cloud top height CTH and cloud top temperature CTT were selected for availability analysis. The results show that:(1)FY-4A data reception rate, time resolution and timeliness of data reception can support real-time monitoring and early warning services in actual forecast;(2)The four types of products have different performances in the weath-er process, among which CLT and CLP have better availability and can better judge the category of clouds; The corresponding relationship between CTH and CTT products and extreme hail weather is obvious, but it is not necessary for extreme hail weather.(3)FY-4A short-wave infrared channel 1.58~1.64 μm,especially 2.1~2.35 μm within 0~1 h before the occurrence of strong convective weather, has a certain indicative effect on the identi-fication of large particle ice crystal clouds, and has a certain indicative significance for improving the effective-ness of short imminent warning.
