A Survey of Core Competencies of 546 Nurses in Tertiary General Hospitals and Analysis of their Influencing Fac-tors
Objective:To investigate the core competencies of nurses in a tertiary general hospital in Yinchuan,Ningxia,and analyze the factors affecting nurses'core competencies to provide reference for further improvement of clinical nursing training programs.Methods:The"China Registered Nurse Core Competency Scale"was used to survey 546 nurses in four tertiary general hospitals in Yinchuan to analyze the factors affecting the core competencies of nurses.Results:The average total core competency score of nurses in Yinchuan's tertiary general hospitals was(142.05±51.01)points,which was at a medium level.Of these,ethical le-gal practice and leadership scored high,while critical thinking,scientific research and career development scored low.There were statistically significant differences in core competency levels when comparing nurses of different nursing ages,titles,and job prepa-rations(F=2.325,1.613,4.617,P<0.05).Conclusion:The overall core competencies of nurses in the tertiary general hospital in Yinchuan,Ningxia,are at a medium level,especially the low critical thinking ability,research ability and professional development ability.Nursing managers need to scientifically design training programs for clinical nurses and provide diverse,personalized and humanized training models to enhance nurses'professional competitiveness and promote the development of nursing career.
