Progress of Research on the Pathogenesis of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM)is one of the common metabolic disorders in pregnancy.It is associated with a variety of adverse maternal,fetal,and perinatal outcomes and can increase the risk of preeclampsia,preterm labor,cesarean sec-tion,intrauterine distress,macrosomia,neonatal respiratory distress,future metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes mellitus in both mother and child,and cardiovascular disease.The incidence of GDM has increased significantly in recent years,and it is now believed that GDM is similar to the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus,and that it is an abnormality of glucose tolerance in pregnancy caused by a variety of reasons,such as insulin resistance,impaired pancreatic β-cell function,adipokines,inflammatory factors,and so on.The article reviews the pathogenesis of GDM.
