Correlation Analysis of the Causes of Blood Donor Turnover and Population Characteristics in Dongguan
Objective:To analyze the reasons for the loss of unpaid blood donations and the characteristics of the population in Dongguan City,and to explore targeted donor recruitment and retention strategies.Methods:240 228 cases of unpaid blood donors in Dongguan from 2016 to 2019 were selected as study subjects,and the population characteristics were statistically analyzed using Shinow 9.0.1 000 cases(250 cases per year)of lost blood donors were randomly selected,and the reasons for the loss were investigated by telephone callback.Results:The difference between the gender,age,degree and profession of first-time and repeat blood donors was statistically significant(x2=1 318.335,10 029.461,626.207,5 693.940,P<0.05).Multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that gender,age,education and occupation were independent influences on repeat donors'behavior of donating blood again,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Among the reasons for donor attrition,inconvenient place and time for blood donation accounted for the highest percentage(31.02%),and unpleasant blood donation experience accounted for the lowest percentage(2.69%).Conclusion:Men,people with higher education and relatively stable careers are the key targets for mobilization and recruitment of blood donors.Strengthening the communication mechanism for blood donors and utilizing the publicity power of the government and the media to eliminate donors'concerns,reduce donor turnover and retain more unpaid blood donors.
