Effect of Continuous Health Education After Discharge on Medication Adherence and Self-tested Health Scores in Patients with Epilepsy
Objective:To investigate the effect of post-discharge continuous health promotion on medication adherence and self-reported health scores(SRHMS)in patients with epilepsy.Methods:140 patients with epilespy admitted to the hospital from Jan.2017 to Dec.2018 in the hospital were included in the study.70 epileptic patients who implemented post-discharge continuous health promotion intervention in the hospital from Jan.to Dec.2017 were selected as the observation group, and 70 epileptic patients who were in the year before the implementation of post-discharge continuous health promotion intervention from Jan.to Dec.2018 were selected as the control group.Clinical outcomes, medication adherence rates and SRHMS scores at different time points were compared between the two groups. Results:After intervention, the total effective rate of patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2= 25.940,P<0.05).The medication adherence of patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=24.27,P<0.05).At admission and discharge, there was no statistically significant difference in SRHMS score profiles between the two groups(t=0.699,1.768,P>0.05).At 1,6,and 12 months after discharge, the SRHMS scores of patients in the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(t=7.507,27.570,8.199,P<0.05).Conclusion:Post-discharge continuous health promotion for patients with epilepsy is effective in improving disease control, medication adherence and health status.
