Effect of Platelet-rich Fibrin Membrane in the Repair of Distal Bone Defect of the Third Molar Extraction
Objective:To evaluate the effect of PRF membrane in the repair of distal bone defect of second molar after impacted third molar tooth extraction. Methods:The clinical randomized controlled trials of PRF membrane used in extraction of impacted mandibular third molars were comprehensively searched from database until October 2022,and the data were analyzed by Revman 5.3 software.Results:9 papers were included in the meta-analysis.The results of meta analysis showed that the placement of PRF membrane could significantly reduce the depth of distal periodontal pocket of the second molar[SMD=-1.22,95%CI(-1.84,-0.60),P=0.000 1],increase the bone density[SMD=-1.56,95%CI(-2.54,-0.59),P=0.002]and the bone height of extraction area[SMD=0.81,95%CI(0.46,1.16),P<0.000 01].However,there was no significant change in the distal attachment level of the second molar and the degree of gingival recession. Conclusion:PRF membrane can significantly promote the distal bone repair of the second molar than the third molar tooth extraction alone.
