Effect of Perinatal Lactation Consultant Combined with Breast Healthcare Intervention on the Success Rate of Breastfeeding in Primiparas and Effective Sucking of Neonates
Objective:To explore the effect of perinatal lactation consultant combined with breast health intervention on the success rate of breast feeding in primiparas and the effective suckling of newborns,so as to provide basis for maternal breastfeeding. Methods:A total of 92 primiparas who delivered in Yichun Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2019 to June 2022 were selected. They were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 46 cases in each group.Control group was given routine nursing intervention, while observation group was given nursing intervention in combination with breast health care. The breast-feeding satisfaction(MBFES),breast-feeding success rate, breast distension rate, effective and ineffective sucking of newborn were compared between the two groups. Results:Three months after delivery, the scores of all dimensions and total scores of MBFES in the two groups were significantly higher than those in the control group at the same time(t=2.965,2.987,3.978;P<0.05).The breast-feeding success rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group 1 and 3 months after delivery(χ2=4.483,4.039;P<0.05).There was no significant difference(χ2=0.448,0.261;P>0.05).1 and 3 months after delivery, the effective sucking times in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the ineffective sucking times in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant difference(t=4.538,4.334,3.868,9.482;P<0.05).Conclusion:Perinatal lactation counsellors in conjunction with breast health interventions can increase the success rate of breastfeeding among primiparas and the number of effective suckling episodes in newborns, and increase maternal breastfeeding satisfaction.
