Effect of Electromagnetic Wave Irradiation Combined with Isokinetic Centrifugal Motion on Lower Limb Muscle Strength and Knee Joint Function in Patients with Osteoarthritis
Objective:To investigate the effect of electromagnetic wave irradiation combined with isokinetic centrifugal motion on lower limb muscle strength and knee joint function in patients with osteoarthritis. Methods:A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted on 84 patients with osteoarthritis in Xinmi Hospital of TCM from April 2021 to December 2022.They were divided into control group and observation group using a random number table method, with 42 patients in each group. The control group received isokinetic centrifugal motion intervention. The observation group received electromagnetic wave irradiation based on the control group. Both groups were continuously intervened for 4 weeks. The knee joint function(Lysholm,WOMAC and VAS)of patients before and after 4 weeks of intervention were compared. The lower limb muscle strength(peak torque, torque acceleration energy, maximum single effort and average power)of two groups during the first and last isokinetic eccentric exercise were compared. Results:After intervention, the Lysholm knee joint function score of the two groups increased. The WOMAC and VAS scores decreased, and the observation group was lower than the control group, with statistically significant difference(t=6.165,7.590,3.910;P<0.05).After intervention, the peak torque, torque acceleration energy, single maximum work amount and average power values of the two groups increased. The observation group was greater than the control group, with statistically significant difference(t=6.103,2.159,5.826,6.752;P<0.05).Conclusion:Electromagnetic wave irradiation combined with isokinetic centrifugal motion can improve knee joint function, reduce pain level, and improve lower limb muscle strength in patients with osteoarthritis.
