Application of Noninvasive Positive Pressure Ventilation in the Treatment of Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Complicated with Respiratory Failure
Objective:This study aims to analyze the impact of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation(NIPPV)on patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD)complicated by respiratory failure. Methods:A total of 93 patients with AECOPD complicated by respiratory failure, treated at Xinfeng County People's Hospital from July 2021 to July 2023,were randomly assigned into two groups:the control group(n=45)and the observation group(n=48).The control group received conventional treatment, while the observation group underwent NIPPV therapy.Clinical efficacy, relevant clinical indicators, arterial blood gas analysis, and vital signs were compared between the two groups. Results:The observation group exhibited a higher overall effective rate compared to the control group, the intubation rate was lower than that of the control group, and the hospital stay was shorter than that of the control group; The partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PaCO2),heart rate(HR)and respiratory rate(RR)in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, while the partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2)was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:NIPPV can improve arterial blood gas analysis, stabilize vital signs, reduce intubation rate, and improve survival rate in patients with AECOPD complicated with respiratory failure, which can be widely applied in clinic.
