Evaluate value of peripheral blood NLR,FAR and IL-37 for acute exacerbation risk in patients with COPD
Objective:To investigate the evaluate value of peripheral blood neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR),fibrinogen to albumin ratio(FAR)and interleukin 37(IL-37)on the risk of acute exacerbation in pa-tients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:106 stable COPD patients admitted to Ping-dingshan Second People's Hospital from April 2021 to August 2023 were enrolled as the study group, and 52 healthy individuals undergoing physical examinations during the same period were selected as the control group.General in-formation and peripheral blood NLR,FAR,and IL-37 levels were compared between the two groups.Based on whether acute exacerbation occurred within 6 months of follow-up,the patients were further divided into exacerba-tion subgroup(n=22)and non-exacerbation subgroup(n=84),and general information and peripheral blood NLR,FAR and IL-37 levels were compared between the two subgroups, and the evaluate value of these biomark-ers for acute exacerbation risk in COPD patients was analyzed. Results:The levels of NEU,NLR,FIB,FAR and IL-37 in the peripheral blood of the study group were significantly higher, while LYM and ALB levels were lower, compared to the control group(P<0.05).Statistically significant differences were observed in disease duration,GOLD classification,NEU,LYM,NLR,FIB,ALB,FAR and IL-37 between the exacerbation and non-exacer-bation subgroups(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that GOLD classification Ⅲ-Ⅳ,elevated NLR,elevated FAR and elevated IL-37 were independent risk factors for acute exacerbation within 6 months of follow-up in COPD patients(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis showed that the combined prediction of NLR,FAR and IL-37 for acute exacerbation in COPD patients had an AUC of 0.876,which was higher than that of NLR(0.720),FAR(0.659)and IL-37(0.835).Conclusion:The levels of NLR,FAR,and IL-37 in the peripheral blood of patients with acute exacerbation of COPD are elevated, and the combination of these three biomarkers can serve as an effective indicator for predicting the risk of acute exacerbation in COPD patients.
