Research and Redesign of Auspicious Animal Patterns in Taoyuan Embroidery
Taoyuan embroidery,known as the"soul of Hunan embroidery",is a brilliant pearl in the western part of Dongting Lake.Its history is long and can be traced back to the Xia and Shang dynasties.Taoyuan embroidery has a rich variety of themes,mainly featuring historical or theatrical figures,flowers,birds,auspicious beasts,and more.The auspicious beast pattern,as a representative pattern of Taoyuan embroidery,has rich cultural connotations and reflects the spiritual demands of the people in the corresponding period.As a new provincial-level intangible cultural heritage project in Hunan Province,the inheritance status and influence of Taoyuan embroidery need to be improved and strengthened.Through literature review and field research,this article collects and organizes relevant information on Taoyuan embroidery auspicious beast patterns,and interprets the cultural connotations of Qilin patterns,Pixiu patterns,and Suan Ni patterns.Extract and analyze the three elements of color,shape,and composition of the highly representative Taoyuan embroidery auspicious beast pattern,and then conduct research and redesign based on the CGM model to explore new forms of inheritance,protection,and redesign of Taoyuan embroidery.
